Fuel/Oil Mixture • Use a quality 2 cycle oil and mix it to the OIL supplier's recommended ratio. Today I use Stihl 2 cycle oil mixed @ 50:1 in a Pioneer that I purchased new in 1980. Greg,you need to check the fuel float level which is done by a diaphragm;you need to remove the cover that the fuel is picked up by;follow the fuel line from the fuel tank to the carb,you could have dirt inside the carb & not allowing the float needle to seat or the adjustment of the float needle arm is off;usually the arm should be flush with the carb body,you have to bend the arm with a small screwdriver;i would guess it is dirt inside the carb causing your problem usually the later doesn't occur unless someone was inside trying to adjust something;hope this helps.
